Sunday night crash at county line kills one, injures four
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA – A crash on Sunday night at the Colusa and Lake County line claimed one life and resulted in injuries for four others.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 20 just inside Colusa County at 5:50 p.m. Sunday, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol’s Williams office.
A 19-year-old Riverside man died in the crash, the CHP said.
The CHP said the Riverside resident was driving a 2007 Hyundai eastbound on Highway 20, just east of the Lake County line, as 52-year-old Chad Evans of Elk Grove was driving his 2015 Ford westbound.
The Hyundai’s driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the westbound lane in front of Evans’ Ford, resulting in the front of the Ford hitting the right side of the Hyundai, the CHP reported.
As a result of the crash, the CHP said the Hyundai’s driver succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The CHP was withholding the young man’s name pending notification of his family.
Chad Evans and the passengers in his Ford were injured in the wreck. The CHP said Chad Evans sustained moderate injuries, as did 39-year-old Allison Evans, with an 8-year-old boy suffering major injuries and a 6-year-old girl having moderate injuries.
All four were transported to St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake for treatment, the CHP said.
The CHP said all of the individuals involved in the wreck were wearing their safety equipment.
The collision remains under investigation by the Williams CHP office.
