Mendocino National Forest announces temporary closure for Sugarfoot Glade campground

MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – Mendocino National Forest officials closed the Sugarfoot Glade campground on the Grindstone Ranger District, approximately 13 miles west of Paskenta, effective Friday, July 14.

The closure is in effect to provide for public safety until hazard trees can be removed.

Sugarfoot Glade is a rustic campground that offers tent sites, picnic tables and room for small camping trailers.

“Due to the drought and bark beetle attacks, numerous large ponderosa pine trees have died in the campground,” Forest Supervisor Ann Carlson said. “Thank you for your patience while crews remove the hazardous trees to create a safe environment for the public and our employees.”

There are approximately 70 hazard trees in the campground that need to be felled and removed.

Forest Order 08-17-22 is posted on the forest Web site at http://www.tinyurl.com/y9t5odhu.
