LOWER LAKE, Calif. – The Lake County Amateur Radio Society is having a meeting on Thursday, July 26.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at DJ's Pizza on Main Street in Lower Lake.

The group will have a business meeting and discussion on upcoming events.

The public is welcome to attend.

NICE, Calif. – This weekend you can get your car washed and support young local athletes.

The Upper Lake High School volleyball team is holding a fundraiser car wash this Saturday, July 21.

The car wash will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Sentry market, located at the corner of Highway 20 and the Nice-Lucerne Cutoff.

NORTH COAST – Caltrans reports that the following road projects will be taking place around Lake County during the coming week.

Included are Mendocino County projects that may impact Lake County commuters.

LAKE COUNTY

Highway 20

– Construction of a roundabout at the Route 20/Nice-Lucerne Cutoff Road intersection will continue. Temporary all-way stop signs are in place. A shoulder closure will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the area and may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Beginning Monday, July 23, Nice-Lucerne Cutoff Road will be closed at Route 20; a detour will be available. Contractor – Granite Construction Inc. of Ukiah.

– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from Laurel Dell Drive to 0.1 mile west of Rosemont Drive Friday, July 20, through Tuesday, July 24. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.

– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from Catholic Church Road to 0.5 mile east of Catholic Church Road beginning Wednesday, July 25. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.

– AT&T of Fort Bragg has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for an aerial crossing near Sulphur Bank Road on Wednesday, July 25. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Intermittent full road
closures will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

– PG&E of Ukiah has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for utility work from New Long Valley Road to just east of Gravel Plant Road. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays. One-way
traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. LC#P20BA

MENDOCINO COUNTY

Highway 1

– Drainage repairs 0.1 mile north of Robinson Reef Drive will begin Tuesday, July 24. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor – Ken's Water Tender of Willow Creek.

– Replacement of the Greenwood Creek Bridge will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate
five-minute delays. Contractor – Golden State Bridge Inc. of Martinez.

Highway 20

– A pavement repair project from Road 300 to Irmulco Road will continue. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays.
Contractor – Granite Construction of Ukiah.

Highway 101

– Caltrans will perform slide repairs near the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (near Frog Woman Rock). Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane 24 hours per day, seven days per week. On Tuesday, July 24, and Wednesday, July 25, northbound and southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.

Highway 128

– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from the Flynn Creek Bridge to just west of the North Fork Navarro River Bridge beginning Tuesday, July 24. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

– PG&E of Ukiah has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit for utility repairs from Philo School Road to the Robinson Creek Bridge beginning Monday, July 23. Work hours are 8:30 a.m. to
2:30 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Highway 162

– Metal beam guardrail repair at various locations from Route 101 to the Town Creek Bridge will begin Wednesday, July 25. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., weekdays. A shoulder closure will be in effect.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the area and may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Contractor – Coral Construction of Wilsonville.

– Slipout repairs 1.6 miles east of the Rodeo Creek Bridge will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate
five-minute delays. Contractor – Mendocino Construction Services of Willits.

– Caltrans will perform routine maintenance from 2.4 miles east of the Rodeo Creek Bridge to 2.6 miles east of Sand Bank Creek beginning Monday, July 23. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Highway 175

– A pavement repair project from the junction of Routes 101/175 to the Lake/Mendocino County line will continue. Work hours are 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. A shoulder closure will be in effect. Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the area and may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Contractor ? Granite Construction of Ukiah.

– Beckstoffer Vineyards of Talmage has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit to install entrance walls just west of the Russian River Bridge through Friday, July 20. Work hours are 7 a.m. to
2:30 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Highway 253

– Slipout repairs about 5.6 miles west of Butler Ranch will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate
five-minute delays. Contractor – Mendocino Construction Services of Willits.

– PG&E of Ukiah has been granted a Caltrans Encroachment Permit for utility repairs 4.5 miles west of Butler Ranch beginning Monday, July 23. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Highway 271

– Metal beam guardrail repair at various locations from Cummings to the South Fork Eel River Bridge will begin Monday, July 23. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. A shoulder closure will be in
effect. Motorists are advised to drive with caution through the area and may experience minor traffic slowdowns. Contractor – Coral Construction of Wilsonville.

Work on all these projects is weather permitting and subject to change. Caltrans advises motorists to drive with caution when approaching work areas and to be prepared to stop at traffic control stations.

The Caltrans Traffic Operations Office has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – A car wash to benefit the Harbor on Main Youth Resource Center will be held on Saturday, July 21.

It will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lakeport Grocery Outlet, 1155 S. Main.

The suggested donation is $10.

NORTH COAST, Calif. – American Red Cross has announced changes in the regional leadership team.

Frank Lucier, executive director, has retired from the Napa County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Anne Steinhauer has joined the Napa Chapter as Lucier’s successor.

Jennifer Jones has been hired as the regional disaster services director, with a territory that includes Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake, Humboldt and Del Norte counties.

Lucier retires from the American Red Cross after serving as executive director of the Napa County Chapter since 2008.

He continues as a consultant in business continuity, emergency and crisis management with his company North American Emergency Management.

Anne Steinhauer, a native of Napa County, previously served Napa Valley Vintners as community relations manager.

Her work has also included positions with the National Democratic Institute, Littorai Wines & Beringer Blass Wine Estates and Congressman Mike Thompson.

She’s managed budgets from $70,000 to $50 million, implemented training programs in Croatia, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Romania, and created partnerships with elected officials and community leaders.

Steinhauer holds a master’s degree from the Monterey Institute of International Studies and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

Jennifer Jones, born and raised in Northern California, first volunteered with the Sonoma County chapter in 2004.

Since then, she has served as either Red Cross employee or volunteer in both Northern and Southern California, North Carolina and national headquarters.

While in Washington D.C., she headed up the Red Cross nationwide roll-out of the Client Assistance Card and Client Assistance System, enabling Red Cross services to be provided to clients.

She’s been a disaster services chair and disaster action team captain. Prior to the American Red Cross, Jones was a K-12 educator, served in the Marine Corps (when she used Red Cross services as a member of the Armed Forces), and was a Red Cross disaster client.             

American Red Cross is a neutral, humanitarian organization that provides relief to victims of disasters, and prepares people to prevent and respond to emergencies.

Like all Red Cross chapters, the local chapter is self-sustaining and is funded by local contributions. All assistance to disaster victims and to members of the armed forces provided by the Red Cross is free and made possible by voluntary donations of time and money by the American people.
