Bernice Marilyn Hudson

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Bernice Marilyn Hudson, 84, returned to her heavenly home on Feb. 16, 2016, after a brief battle with illness.

Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Bernice was born to the late Martin Reidenbach and Minnie Vienop, in Napa, Calif., on Dec 10, 1931.

She was immersed and an active part of the Lake County community for 58 years. She was a good Christian, amazing mom and grandma – to all the children in her life, a faithful friend and coworker.

Bernice was born and raised in Napa where she met her former husband and worked several years at the Veteran’s Home before heading off to Texas for a few years.

Bernice returned to California and moved to Lake County in 1957 where she lived out her life.

Bernice had a day care in her home for many years. In the early 1970s Bernice was elected as the city clerk for the city of Lakeport where she worked 23 years until her retirement. She loved her job as the city clerk, working with so many wonderful people over the years.

She had a passion for gardening and working in the yard, she even worked in her children’s yards. She was an avid bowler for many years, going back to the old Lakeshore bowling alley.

Bernice was a huge sports fan – football, baseball, golf, tennis – and look out if her team or sportsperson lost.

Bernice touched many a life during her time on this Earth and you all know who you are. She was our angel here on Earth. She will be truly be missed by all who knew her. 

Bernice is survived by her daughter, Nancy; and her son Steve; her grandson, Kory; and granddaughter Brianna (Jonelle Sornes, mom)

Bernice’s services will be held at First Lutheran Church, 3863 Country Club Dr. in Lucerne at 11 a.m. Feb. 26, followed by her burial at Hartley Cemetery, 2552 Hill Road East in Lakeport at 1 p.m.

There will be a reception following her burial at The Elks Lodge, 3775 Lakeshore Blvd., Lakeport.

Pastor Chris DelCol will officiate the services.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Ruthanak Nelson, age 36, entered into rest on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016.

A native of Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Nuk, as she was affectionately known, was a resident of Lake County for four years. She served her country and was a combat medic in the US Army.

Ruthanak is survived by her loving husband, Dale Nelson; son, Scott Nelson; father, Mang Ung; and mother, Channary Ung, all of Clearlake; along with brother, Sokhamony Ung, and sister, Ruthavy Racek, both of Minneapolis, Minn.; and her beloved dogs Tank, Shaggy and service dog Cato.

Arrangements are under the care of Jones & Lewis Clear Lake Memorial Chapel.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Alisa Soledad Martinez Ramey Goebel passed away in the comfort of her home on Feb. 11, 2016, at 56 years old.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1959, to Alfredo and Raquel Martinez.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Ramey.

Her life was rooted in Kelseyville where she graduated from high school, worked for Kelseyville Unified, and raised her family and made lifelong friends.

Alisa’s love lives on in her husband, Dale; her children and their children, Nicole (Dave), Thomas (Gina), Michael (Sandra), Amy (Ryan), and Lisa, Cali, Addison, Avery, Olivia, Ethan, Brady and Isabella; and her brothers, Alfredo and Stephen (Andrea).

She was strong, independent, resourceful and beautifully infectious.

Rosary service will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kelseyville on Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 6 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Thursday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. with interment at Kelseyville Cemetery.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Joquetta Montaz Eagle, a longtime resident of the Clearlake area, passed away on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her daughter Tammy and two granddaughters, Samantha and Whitney.

Joquetta was born on Nov. 1, 1939, in Percy, Okla.

She is survived by her two daughters; three sons; two daughters-in-law; one son-in-law; grandchildren, Johnathan, Troy, Trina, Travis, Amber, Nattie, Samantha, Victorie, Justin and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Isiah, Zackery, little Trina, little Wess, Maddie, Stormy, Bella, Ryder, Logan, Gunner, Elizabeth and James.

She was preceded in death by her son, Terrance; husband of 57 years, Elmer; and granddaughter, Tanya.

Friends and family are warmly invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, Feb. 21, beginning at noon at Anderson Marsh in Lower Lake. This will be a potluck memorial so bring your favorite dish to share in memory of Joquetta.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Bette passed away on February 8, 2016, at the age of 91.

She was a longtime resident of Lakeport, having moved here with her family from Michigan in 1955. 

She worked for many years for the Lake County Title Co. and the Lake County Tax Collector's Office.

Always and foremost was her family, following their sports and interests closely.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and later joined United Christian Parish.

She is survived by her daughter, Connie (Robert) Crone, and son, Fred (Michelle) Figg; granddaughters, Holly Dinsdale and Stefanie (Adam) Howarth; grandson, Brian (Mandy) Figg; great-grandchildren, Megan Thor, Hamish and Bailey Dinsdale, Max and Mason Howarth; great-great-grandson, Mark Porterfield; stepchildren, Lee Garrison, Mel Garrison, Connie Sims and Peggy Tanner; and many nieces and nephews.

At her request there will be no service. A celebration of life will be held sometime in June.

Laurence 'Larry' Torrey
July 26, 1938 – Feb. 10, 2016

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Larry served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1959. He was employed as a truck driver and after retiring he worked part-time at the California Conservation Corp in Ukiah.

He was made an honorary member of the Lake County Pearl Harbor survivors, volunteered as a driver for the veterans and was a senior volunteer for the California Highway Patrol.

Larry is survived by his wife, Arlene; two daughters, Erica and Lisa; and his two granddaughters, Jessie Greer and Lindsey Silva.

He enjoyed spending time with is granddaughters, watching football, fishing and Volkswagens.
