LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Firefighters contained two small fires on Saturday evening and early Sunday morning near Clearlake Oaks.
The first fire, which took place in Spring Valley, was reported at about 7 p.m. Saturday, while the second – located off of Highway 20 near the Double Eagle Ranch – was reported shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.
The Spring Valley fire was located at one end of the community's campground. Northshore Fire responded as did Cal Fire, which also sent air attacks and a helicopter, according to radio reports.
Firefighters quickly built a dozer line around the fire, which was contained at two acres shortly before 8 p.m., reports from the scene indicated. No cause was given.
The fire early Sunday morning was reported to be in the vicinity of the Oasis Cafe and Walker Ridge Road, based on the initial dispatch.
Firefighters who arrived on scene found the fire burning rapidly up a hill, according to radio reports.
At 1:44 a.m. the fire was reported to be contained at one acre. Reports from the scene indicated firefighters were to remain on scene for several hours for mop up.
