'Make A Difference Day' set for Oct. 26; local organizations plan food drive
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake County Hunger Task Force and North Coast Opportunities are joining forces with Lake Transit Authority to conduct a countywide nonperishable food drive on Saturday, Oct. 26, for “Make A Difference Day.”
Lake Transit Authority will furnish two buses to be parked at Clearlake Grocery Outlet and Lakeport Grocery Outlet stores for the day.
Volunteers will be on hand to collect food and stuff the buses with donations. A team of volunteers also will be collecting food outside of the Lakeport Safeway store.
All of the food collected will be distributed in Lake County.
The three agencies are inviting any interested volunteers to help with the project. Group and individuals who want to collect food between now and then are invited to do so as well.
If you wish to have the food picked up, please call Lorrie Gray at 707-277-9227 to make arrangements. If you wish to come that day and help stuff the buses, that also would be appreciated.
Barrels have been placed around the county to collect food in advance of that day.
They are located at Sentry Market in Nice, Lakeview Market in Lucerne, Red and White in Clearlake Oaks, Hardester's Cobb Mountain, Riviera Foods, Lakeport Grocery Outlet, Clearlake Grocery Outlet, Lakeport Library, Lake County Office of Education, Konocti Christian Academy, Middletown High School, Carlé High School, Lower Lake High School, Lake Transit Authority, Meadowbrook Headstart, Meadowbrook Nursing Center and Clear Lake High School.
