LAKE COUNTY, Calif. -- Sunday morning, County of Lake Information Technology director Shane French has re-established the county's live camera feed from Buckingham peak.

French moved the feed to Youtube so more people can get a bird's eye view of conditions in the county, a previous stream platform had proved unreliable, according to French.

The camera has been set to a 360-degree pan which reveals an expansive view of Lake County and captures weather conditions as well as views of the fires.

Although the high definition view is affected by smoky haze from the fires, billowing clouds of smoke drifting toward the East and South are clearly visible.

French advises the stream remains in development and may go down while tinkering happens and a stable, long-term solution is implemented.

He volunteers that the camera dome could do with a bit of cleaning and when he's able he'll be going to the top of the mountain to tidy up. "I guess I have an excuse now," he said.

Two other live streams located at Lucerne Harbor park are currently down, likely power loss or other outside influence.

Those streams, once reactivated, will be available at konoctibaitshack.com. The operator of the park streams, John Jensen of Lake County News, says going into the area for the purpose of restoring the streams isn't a high priority at the moment.

At the moment these are the only embeddable streams in Lake County that Jensen or French are aware of, Jensen asks that if other embeddable streams exist to let him know through Lake County News.
