FORT BRAGG, Calif. – California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) Mendocino Unit announces the establishment of camping fees for campgrounds in Jackson Demonstration State Forest (JDSF).
Assembly Bill (AB) 2351 revised the Public Resources Code authorizing Cal Fire to collect fees for certain recreational uses, including camping.
Revenue generated from these fees will be used to support the recreation program including costs associated with maintenance and improvement of campgrounds and facilities, signage, roads, trails, etc.
It is anticipated that the campgrounds will open in May, depending upon weather.
The base fee for individual campsites will be $15 per night with an additional fee of $5 for a second vehicle.
Fees will be collected at self-registration stations located in the campgrounds.
Fees will also be implemented for recreation events requiring special use permits such as organized bike and equestrian rides and races.
