Carl

The most recent event of Carlé has the student/parent community amazed. This last event, our back to school night, was extremely successful, and went without a hitch.

After everyone got settled in and comfortable, new Principal Ed Zander gave his welcoming speech to new and old students alike, and was heavily applauded.

The next order of business was getting our budget agreed upon; the guidelines were provided by the student council. We convened the parents who attended as our site council and brought up the budgetary needs. The site council voted and the vote was unanimous.

On a side note, the current members of the student council are Marquice Lamar, Courtney Lawson, Kristina Micheletti, Chelsea Dawson, Chelsey Shrum, Marissa Tagle, Leanna Efestione, myself (Bryan Layne), Cheyenne Taylor, Jonathan Hill, and Jamila Parker.

Katie Flannery agreed with me when she said, “It was extremely fun and successful.”

Danielle Hudson also pointed out the fact that students also received some credit for coming, when she said, “[It was a] Really good way for teachers and parents to meet and discuss future curriculum and grades, while we get credit for coming.”

Mia Dupard had this to say: “It was a really big deal, and it went over extremely well.”

The event was a potluck also, and everyone brought delicious food. Actually, Dylan Sheldon summarized it in three words. “Food was BOMB.”

All in all, it was another successful event put on by the Carlé staff and student body.

In other news, Carlé High School students volunteered on Oct. 8 at Lower Lake Park for the monthly Lake County Community Action group's dinner. Students Bonny Passley, myself (Bryan Layne), Codi

Burr and Michael Tellez volunteered to help set up the event, and help serve and clean up the dinner.

These dinners are on the second Wednesday of every month, but this one hits home especially because it's also a memorial for Russell Ristici (one of the main benefactors for Carlé and a major player in the Lower Lake group), who just recently passed away. We at Carlé will truly miss him and plan on dedicating a tree at Carlé in his honor.

Students of the week these last three weeks, in chronological order, were Bonny Passley, Justin Duncan and Leanna Efestione. These three students truly exemplify the best of our community and we are very proud of them. Congratulations!

Also, our students volunteered to help serve dinner and set up for the Lake County Land Trust big shindig at the Blue Lake Lodge on Oct. 11. Marquice Lamar, Kaitlyn Schneider, Atlee Erickson, Monica McGaffey, Kourtney Mckissick, Rodney Browning, Alex Huff and Leanna Efestione are volunteering to give up their Saturday under the guidance of Angie and Alan Siegel to help out.

It was another great week here at Carlé.

Bryan Lane is a student at Carlé High School in Lower Lake.
