Carle Chronicle: Student officers elected

We had lots of good food and lots of good discussion at our Back to School night on Sept. 18. We discussed our goals for this year and where we are at right now in relation to them. Right now we are working on our career readiness.

We have elected our student body representatives from each advisory and they are: Matthew Tipton and Debbie Powell from Verna’s advisory, Jenna Ortega and Jamila Parker from Alan’s advisory, Jamie Banducci and Janiel Hubert-Benefiel from Angie’s advisory, from Steve’s class David Ochoa and Chelsea Dawson were elected, and from Mr. Maes’s class Crystal Engelking and Atlee Erickson were elected. Bill’s picks were Wesley Besgrove and Yvette Kinyon. Barbara’s representative is Tailore Delange. Our student body president is Lavonne Pattee.

Our student government is a vital part of our Carlé atmosphere. It gives the teachers a great outlook on what we need in the eyes of our students and is a good way for our students to agree on group activities, plans and trips.

The student of the week for last week was Tailore Delange. Tailore received this award because she works hard at school, is always on time and has really turned it on this year.

Our CPR instructor and Olympic gold medalist coach Steve will be hosting a friendly fleet ball tournament on Oct. 5. We will be competing against many other schools for the trophy.

We would like to thank Jack Stuart, Tamara Thornquest, and William Sleik for visiting us here at Carlé. Jack is from the state P-16 council and came to talk to us about vocational education and observed our three-time model school behavior. Tamara Thornquest is from TPP and came to give us a helping hand with going from school to direct work transition. William came to our school from his workshop, Inner Skies, located on Main Street in Lower Lake, to teach us how to tie-dye! We really appreciate all the wonderful visitors.

Congratulations to our first graduate of the year, Natosha Hill! She presented her portfolio on Sept. 11 and earned an excellent review on it. Natosha is going to be successful in her future because she is fully prepared to go into the adult world.

Thanks for reading!
