LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Senior Activity Center will host a Halloween dance and potluck on Friday, Oct. 25.

The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There is no cover charge, and ghouls, goblins and ghosts of all ages are welcome.

Just stir up a bubbling witch’s brew in the old cauldron and bring it to share for the potluck at 527 Konocti Ave.

There will be special punch for the kids and a donation bar for adults, along with a silent auction and raffle, games and prizes for the children, face painting and a candy basket, and a best costume contest for both children and adults.

There will be a free pumpkin provided for a decorating competition for each table. Absolutely no cutting. Best pumpkin will win a prize.

Music is to be provided by the Southern Comfort Band.

UKIAH, Calif. – The annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off will take place on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ukiah Safeway parking lot.

Cash prizes totaling more than $3,000 will be awarded.

There will be music, food, a free jump house and children’s activities including your last chance to enter the PumpkinFest coloring contest.

The winning pumpkins and gourds will be on display at Safeway Oct. 12 through Friday, Oct. 18. The pumpkins will be featured on a float in the PumpkinFest Parade which starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, and then put on display for PumpkinFest Oct. 19-20.

Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off entry forms are now available at the city of Ukiah Civic Center Annex at 411 W. Clay Street in Ukiah or on the Web at www.cityofukiah.com .

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Clearlake Youth Center is seeking volunteers to help with the roof at the center beginning at 9 a.m. this Saturday, Oct. 12.

They need six to eight people who are able to help scrap the gravel off the roof and help roll out the snow roof.

SOUTH LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Branch 133 of the Sons In Retirement will hold its next meeting on Friday, Oct. 18.

The group meets at the Greenview Room, Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course, 19210 Hartman Road the third Friday of each month.

The meeting starts at 11 a.m., with lunch served at noon.

Sons In Retirement is a social organization for men of retirement age who are pursuing the goal of enjoying their later years. It has 142 branches with 18,000 members throughout the state.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Time Bank of Thrive Lake County will hold a “time bank orientation brunch” on Saturday, Oct. 12.

The brunch will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Clearlake Methodist Church, 14521 Pearl Ave. in Clearlake.

This fun and education event is open to members and potential members of the time bank.

The agenda includes an introduction to the concept of time banking, a time for questions and answers, and an activity designed to get participants started in time banking.

All ages welcome. Admission is free, and you can earn hours from the time bank from this event in the following ways: 1) One hour will be provided for anybody who brings a breakfast or brunch food item to share with eight other people; 2) one hour will be provided for anybody who brings a friend to the event; 3) one hour will be provided to anyone who stays for the entire event and completes the orientation.

The Time Bank of Thrive Lake County helps Lake County residents get necessary services through allowing the exchange of time instead of cash.
