NORTH COAST – Caltrans reports that the following road projects will be taking place around the North Coast during the coming week.

Included are Mendocino County projects that may impact Lake County commuters.

LAKE COUNTY

Highway 53

– Highway widening and rehabilitation from Crawford Avenue to the junction of Routes 20/53 will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor ‐ Teichert Construction of Davis.

Highway 175

– AT&T of Santa Rosa has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for utility repairs from Anderson Springs Road to Santa Clara Street through Friday, Oct. 25. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

MENDOCINO COUNTY

Highway 1

– Guardrail repairs at various locations from Pirates Drive to Little River Airport Road will continue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor ‐ Coral Construction of Wilsonville.

– Replacement of the Greenwood Creek Bridge will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor ‐ Golden State Bridge Inc. of Martinez.

– Replacement of a culvert with a bridge at Dunn Creek will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor ‐ Shasta Construction of Redding.

Highway 101

– Caltrans will perform slide repairs near the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (near Frog Woman Rock). Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.

Highway 128

– Navarro Ranch of Philo has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit to install a driveway near Philo Greenwood Road through Friday, Oct. 25. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

– Nicholette Ausschnitt of Yorkville has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit to pave about 0.4 mile west of the Short Creek Bridge beginning Friday, Oct. 25. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Highway 222

– AT&T of Fort Bragg has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for utility repairs from Ruddick Cunningh a.m. Road to Sanford Ranch Road beginning Monday, Oct. 28. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Highway 253

– Guardrail repairs at various locations from cattle Pass to Butler Ranch will continue on Monday, October 28. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor ‐ Coral Construction of Wilsonville.

Work on all these projects is weather permitting and subject to change. Caltrans advises motorists to drive with caution when approaching work areas and to be prepared to stop at traffic control stations.

The Caltrans Traffic Operations Office has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Lake County Rockhounds will have a members-only workshop on how to identify rocks on Wednesday, Nov. 6.

The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Redbud Library, 14785 Burns Valley Road in Clearlake.

Remember to bring materials listed in the newsletter to use during the workshop. Extra materials will be available to use at the meeting as well.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The annual Bass Bowl football game between Clear Lake High School and Kelseyville High School will take place at Don Owens Stadium in Lakeport beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25.

As in years past, the game will feature a Civil War-style cannon which will be shot off throughout various times during the game.

Residents in the neighborhood should expect to hear several loud blasts throughout the night during the course of the football game.

Motorists should expect delays due to heavy traffic in the area of the school, which is located on Lange Street.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeside Family Fun & Event Center Trunk or Treat Halloween event will take place on Thursday, Oct. 31.

The fun will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the center's parking lot, 872 Lakeport Blvd., Lakeport.

LUCERNE, Calif. – Hospice Services of Lake County announces its inaugural Holiday Preview event that will take place on Thursday, Nov. 7.

The event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at its Thrift Store located in Lucerne at 6270 E. Highway 20.

The Holiday Preview event will provide an exclusive sneak peek at the Thrift Store’s holiday collection, which has been gleaned from donations at all four Thrift Store locations over the past year.

There is no cost to attend the event. Customers may purchase a $10 ticket to receive a 25-percent discount on all holiday items purchased at the event.

Free refreshments will be served and live entertainment will be provided by My Divas, a local women’s a cappella singing group.

The proceeds from this event and from all of Hospice Services of Lake County’s Thrift Stores are used to fund programs for patients facing the end of their lives, the patients’ loved ones, and the community at large.

The agency provides grief support to members of the Lake County community through its Wings of Hope Family bereavement camps and school programs and through individual and group grief support.

Additionally the funds are used to provide support to patients with special needs such as an air conditioner during a heat wave or travel costs to say good bye to a loved one. These special funds also assist with providing hospice care for patients without insurance.

NICE, Calif. – The Sons of Italy club will host its first Sunday pasta feed from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 3.

The homemade meal comes with or without meatballs or sausages plus salad, garlic bread and dessert. The club will have their regular three sauce pasta choices.

The Sons of Italy club hall is located at 2817 E. Highway 20 in Nice.
