LAKEPORT, Calif. – Approximately 200 guests and 4-H members attended the Oct. 6 4-H Centennial Event at the Lake County Fairgrounds.

Seventeen of those guests were Lake County All Stars, past and present.

The most senior All Star (1948) attending was Frances Edwards, originally of Big Valley 4-H. She and other alumni were recognized.

Several families were awarded the title of Century Family for having 100 years or more involvement with the 4-H program: Holdenreid, Harville, Alexander, Evans, Lyon, and Renfro.

The current All Star Team of Victoria Hayes, Asia Jones, and Jocelyn Bennett hosted the event.

The Cobb Stompers, a local blue grass band, opened the ceremony allowing clubs from around the county to share feature booths with the public. These included an animal display, a quiz bowl, record books through the years, a video-recording booth, face painting, club projects and a historical slide show and more.

As the event ended, attendees enjoyed an artful and delicious cupcake dessert arranged to mimic the 4-H clover. 4-H: 100 years and thriving in California!
