KELSEYVILLE – The fourth annual Scandinavian Christmas Open House will take place this coming Sunday, Dec. 14.


The Sons of Norway Vikings of Lake Lodge No. 6-166 event, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., will be held at the Galilee Lutheran Church Community Center, 8860 Soda Bay Road, Kelseyville.


Featured will be the annual Santa Lucia pageant at noon, the singing of Norwegian carols around the Christmas tree, Scandinavian Christmas décor, specialty items for sale, a raffle and assorted delicacies to enjoy, including, lefse, Swedish pancakes, Danish Æbleskiver, krumkaker, open-faced sandwiches and more.


Everyone is welcome. A free will offering will be taken.

CLEARLAKE – Have you decorated your house for the holidays? If you have the Clearlake Chamber of Commerce wants to know about it.


Enter your house into the Holiday House Decorating Contest.


They're looking for homes in Clearlake that have been decorated for the holiday season.


Call the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce at 994-3600 to enter your name, address and phone number by Dec. 15.


The winner will receive the notoriety for one full year of having the best holiday decorated house AND a holiday gift basket of goodies.

LAKE COUNTY – The Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants to fill 13 vacancies on the Lake County Genetically Engineered Crops Advisory Committee.


The purpose of the committee is to address and make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors pertaining to issues regarding the use of genetically engineered crops in Lake County.


The qualifications for applicants are as follows:


  • Conventional farming – two members;

  • Organic farming – two members;

  • Environment – two members;

  • Science – two members;

  • Agriculture support/services – two members;

  • Business – one member;

  • Members at large – two members.


Applicants should have interest and time available for effective county service.


Applications can be obtained from the clerk of the board, Room 113, Lake County Courthouse, 255 N. Forbes St., Lakeport, or by calling 263-2371.

CLEARLAKE – Lake County Community Co-op is celebrating the organization’s one-year anniversary on Saturday, Dec. 13, with a community potluck.


Members and others interested in the co-op are invited to attend.


The event will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the buyers club/co-op location at 14773 Lakeshore Drive, Clearlake.


Please bring a dish to share and in an effort to be eco-conscious bring your own plate and utensils.


The theme for the evening “Gratitude 2008” reflects the appreciation felt by members for the abundance of support and participation from the community in creating systems to provide local farm fresh produce to Lake County Residents.


Join them for good food and good company. Learn how you can become involved in the many co-op activities.

CLEARLAKE OAKS – A holiday greens sale will be held this coming Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Shannon Ridge Tasting Room on Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks.


The sale will take palce from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.


Get that holiday spirit, right in The Oaks. Kim Young will have fresh wreaths, garland, holly, baked goods, Clearlake Oaks t-shirts and crafts.

CLEARLAKE – Clearlake's annual Christmas Light Parade will brighten up the city Saturday evening.


The event begins at 6 p.m.


The theme this year is “Christmas Carols Come to Life.”


More than 50 parade entrants will travel from Redbud to Austin Park, all decorated in beautiful holiday lights.


The activities will just be getting started as the parade arrives at Austin Park.


Pastor Richard Bean will start the celebration, which will include the tree lighting, carolers, a visit and photo with Santa; the first 100 children to visit Santa will receive a glow necklace.


The Konocti Dance Academy Dancers will perform, and cocoa and cookies will be provided by the Lakeshore Lions and Foods Etc.
