UPPER LAKE – Upper Lake High School will host a forum for Lake County superintendent of schools candidates Wally Holbrook and Judy Luchsinger on Tuesday, May 4.


The forum will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Upper Lake High School Multipurpose Room on Clover Valley Road.


The event, which is open to the public, will give the candidates an opportunity to speak a bit about themselves and allow the community to ask questions of the candidates.

BLUE LAKES – The Lake County Historical Society invites members, guests and the public to the Lodge at Blue Lakes for its meeting on Sunday, April 25.


The meeting is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.


Attendees will enjoy a discussion of Blue Lakes and Upper Lake history by Sylvia DeSantis, manager of the Lodge at Blue Lakes.


Following that presentation, Richard Vargas and Laurie Ann Martin will show us how they have restored and photographed several large paintings that are currently displayed in the Special Events Center of the Lodge.


Vargas will reveal the process of preserving vintage paintings with an actual set up, including paints, while Martin demonstrates her photographic techniques.


As always, refreshments will be served and donated cookies or other treats will be greatly appreciated.

NICE – Come enjoy an old-fashioned dinner and dance this Friday, April 23, at the Sons of Italy.


The group will serve a meatloaf meal with home-cooked sides just like your mom used to make and dessert.


The bar is open for socializing at 5 p.m. then dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.


Enjoy dancing to music of John Zimmerman right after the meal.


All tickets cost $15 at the door. Everyone is welcome.

LAKEPORT – Meet Lake County's Democratic candidates and help get out the vote for the June primary election at a special event planned for Saturday, May 15.


The Lake County Democratic Central Committee will host the event, which will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lakeport Yacht Club, 15 Fifth St.


There will be speakers, a silent auction and Asian cuisine.


Sponsors include Congressman Mike Thompson, state Sen. Patricia Wiggins and Assemblyman Wes Chesbro.


The cost is $15 per person.

LAKEPORT – The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life team, Find A Penny, will hold a fundraiser at Quail Run in Lakeport on Saturday, May 8.


The fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.


Activities will include a barbecue and bake sale, face painting and raffle prizes, and full massage therapy services.


An all-day swim pass for children or a general admission pass for adults both will cost $5.


The general admission passes include full membership privileges for the day – full gym membership; basketball, wallyball and racquetball tournaments, Zumba and cardio classes, and swim activities for children.


The team asks community members to bring their lucky pennies; those who do will receive an extra raffle ticket.

CLEARLAKE – The Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club will hold its next meeting on Monday, April 26.


The group will meet at the Redbud Library conference room, 14785 Burns Valley Road, Clearlake.


Potluck and refreshments will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the meeting beginning at 7 p.m.


The guest speaker will be Joyce Overton, candidate for Lake County District 2 supervisor.
