UPPER LAKE, Calif. – Shannon Michele of Cache Creek Catering and Lake County Wine Studio are presenting a monthly food and wine series featuring gourmet appetizers paired with select Lake County wines.

Locally produced foods are proudly featured as key ingredients in recipes created by Cache Creek Catering.

The series is held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the second Friday of each month. The per person cost is $20 and reservations are required.

The next event is May 11.

April’s event featured Gregory Graham wines with locally grown spring favorites. The first course was a dill and sunflower patê on crostini with fava bean greens from Finch Gardens, tossed in citrus olive oil dressing with 2010 Sauvignon Blanc, followed by a rosemary, Dijon and garlic lamb skewer with baby artichokes and roasted red potatoes paired with 2007 Syrah.

The final pairing of late harvest cluster select sweet Zinfandel with balsamic and chocolate mint marinated strawberries with dark chocolate chip cookies completed the three-course event.

May 11 will be themed “Le Pairings of Provence” featuring Sol Rouge wines. The first course will be a Provencal white bean salad made with locally grown organic greens paired with Gypsy Blanc, which is a lovely white blend of Marsanne, Roussanne and Viognier, followed by red pepper shrimp toasts with rouille paired with Rosé.

The dessert course will be an apricot galette paired with Sol Rouge Late Harvest Viognier.

Sol Rouge wines garnered 11 awards at this year’s American Fine Wine Competition in Boca Raton, FL.

The Gypsy Blanc and Rosé wines to be featured on May 11 are among the award winners.

June 8 will be a preview (“pre-Q”) of summertime barbecue favorites with wines from Six Sigma.
