LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Born in Oakland, Calif., in 1928, Donald Ross Eutenier passed from his Kelseyville home on Aug. 1, 2018.

He had moved here with his parents, Henry William Eutenier and Robina Munro Eutenier, in 1941, and always maintained that this was his destined home.

He grew up in the country paradise of Lake County, on his parents’ fruit orchard, which he later operated as primarily a pear orchard. He loved the challenge of growing good crops and also was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Don attended Kelseyville High School, class of 1946, and spent a short time at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, until his father’s health forced him home to take over the family ranch. With his marriage to Barbara Beeman and the arrival of his four children in the 1950s, and the increasing size and complexity of his farming business, Don never lost touch with his maternal Scottish and paternal German heritage and pride.

Active in the community, Don served on the school board and was a president of the Kelseyville Lions Club, longtime member and president of the Farm Bureau, on the board of directors of Kelseyville Packing and Lake County Vintners, and a founding member and director of the Lake County Winegrape Commission. He was deemed a Life Member of the Konocti Rod and Gun Club as well as the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; sister, Maxine Miller; grandson, Michael; and stepson, Eric Beck.

His survivors include his wife of 30 years, Margaret; sister, Arlene Johnson; his sons, Henry (Kristine) and Ross of Kelseyville, and Mark (PaulAnn) of San Jose; daughter, Lynn Fraser (Bruce) of Lakeport, Calif.; granddaughters, Bridget Potter (Alan) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Erin Wilson (Justin) of Lincoln, Calif.; stepchildren, James Beck and Lesa Turner (Willy); six step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; plus numerous beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held in Kelseyville at the American Legion Hall on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 1 p.m.

Memorial contributions to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, or Kelseyville FFA or 4-H are welcome.
