Tyler James Lee, a 40-year Lake County resident, passed peacefully in his own home on Saturday, July 16.

A lifetime health problem took him, but he was filled with energy and love and humor right up to the moment he slipped away. A light went out, and he will be grievously missed.

Tyler is survived by daughter, Maya (Tim) Hadjes, and children Ben and McKaela of Meridian, Idaho. He is also survived by his wife, Donna, and his stepchildren, Kathleen Craig Terdiman (Daniel) of Sausalito and Mike Craig and children Ashley and Matt of Sunnyvale.

Tyler and Donna bought their homestead on Bartlett Mountain in 1976, home schooling their children and commuting to work in the Barnes Yard. Tyler later worked for Vittel's Bartlett Springs plant and then became the Nice Water master.

In 1996 they retired to the mountain, developing their solar system and organic garden.

Tyler earned his bachelor of arts degree at Sacramento State and his master's degree at San Francisco State.

Learning was his lifelong passion, and contributions in his memory to KPFZ (88.1FM) community radio, 149 N. Main St., Ste 220, Lakeport CA 95453, where his voice was often heard or to Friends of the Lake County Library would honor him.

The date for a celebration of his life will be announced.

Colin K. Wilson of Clearlake passed away on Aug. 6, 2011 at the age of 73.

Born in Ohio on March 2, 1938, he was formerly of Santa Barbara and had lived in Lake County for 31 years. All of that time in Lake County was spent owning and operating the Shady Acres Resort.

Colin was a proud United States Army veteran, active from 1960-1962, then in the Reserves from 1963-1966. He was very active in the communities in which he lived, and his affiliations include the Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce, the Southlake Resort Owners Association, Sons in Retirement, The Elks, Kiwanis and Red Cross.

Colin is survived by his loving family; his wife of 50 years, Marian Wilson of Clearlake; daughters, Lisa Wilson of New York, NY, and Michele Olejnik Silva (Bill) of Clearlake; son, Christopher Wilson (Yolanda) of Clearlake; brother, Raymond Wilson (Jo) of Columbus, OH; and two grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Martha and John Wilson; grandson, Ivan Irl Wilson and sister; Jacqueline Wilson.

A funeral mass will said in his honor on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Clearlake. Inurnment will be private at Lower Lake Cemetery.

Jason Alexander Carr went to Heaven to join the angels on July 28, 2011.

Born in Lakeport, Calif., on March 28, 2008, he was the beloved first born child of John “Ryan” Carr and Charmaine Plein.

His life, although cut so short, was a miracle, as he came into this world unable to breathe on his own. Jason was a joy to his family, with his huge smile that lit up rooms and warmed hearts wherever he went.

When his little brother John Lucas was born a year later, Jason had a built in playmate. His favorite things to do were take walks with Mom and Dad and play with his brother and best friend Dillon.

He also loved building block castles, playing with trucks in the gravel, getting up early to watch Spongebob, and being "bounced" by Ellis.

Beside him was his faithful, tolerant, doggy companion, Buck. Once he learned to jump, that was his mode of transportation. If you asked for a kiss he would just hop over and give you one!

When family came and went, he would wait patiently for them to return and greet them with a beautiful smile and hug. He'd point at the records and say "moosic" and he and Grandma would rock to song after song. His grandpa Jimmy would be there for him at a moment's notice. Jason knew his family loved and adored him and he will be missed and forever and ever and always in our hearts.

Jason is survived by his parents, Ryan and Charmaine; little brother, John "Lucas" Carr; grandparents, Melissa Plein, Cheryl Carr, James and Marla Plein; great grandmothers, Helen Tinney, and Joy Chamskas; uncles, Matthew Carr, Cody Plein and Jacob Humphrey; aunt, Marisa Plein; second cousins, Keith, Kevin, Nicole, Jessica, Emily and Ashley Tinney; little cousins, Dylan and Tyler and numerous other friends and family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Nolan Carr and his uncle, Joshua Plein.

Ron Larsen, a retired Clearlake Police captain, died on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at his home in Kelseyville, Calif., following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 60 years old.

Ronald Dale Larsen was born May 15, 1951 in Eureka, Calif., to Gladys (Hescock) Larsen and Harvey Leonard Larsen.

On Aug. 10, 2011, Ronald passed away at his home in Kelseyville, Calif., after a year-long illness from cancer.

Ronald graduated from Ferndale High School and graduated from College of The Redwoods before beginning his 35 year career in law enforcement.

He began work for the State of California Department of Justice in Sacramento, then returned to Ferndale as a police officer which began his long career as a police officer with several police agencies, including the Pacific Grove Police Department in Pacific Grove, Calif., and then the Clearlake Police Department in Clearlake, Calif.

After joining Clearlake Police Department in 1981, Ronald worked all assignments, and promoted through the ranks, attaining rank of captain until his retirement on Dec. 20, 2006.

After retirement, Ronald worked part-time for the Lake County District Attorney's Office and as a private investigator until his illness became too severe.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Jeanette Larsen; daughter, Nicole Lynn Larsen (age 21), both of Lake County' and son Jeremy Dale Larsen (19) who is attending Naval Nuclear Power Training Command at Charleston, South Carolina.

Ron is also survived by his mother, Gladys Winemiller and her husband Mervin of Santa Rosa, Calif; mother-in-law, Betty Jackson of Clearlake, Calif.; half-brother, Brian Larsen, half-sister, Julie Larsen, and stepbrother Dan Larsen, all of Eureka, Calif.

Ron was an avid sportsman and hunter and most enjoyed taking his daughter and son to Wyoming where they hunted for elk and antelope.

Memorial services will be at Jones & Lewis Clear Lake Memorial Chapel, 16140 Main St., Lower Lake, Calif., on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at noon with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be given to a cancer prevention center or Hospice Services of Lake County.

Bryan Paul Mottlow passed away suddenly on Aug. 6, 2011 at the age of 38.

Born in Grass Valley, Nev., Bryan grew up in Lake County, and spent time in Ft. Bragg and Marysville.

Bryan leaves behind his family: wife, Ronda Mottlow of Spring Valley; mother, Winona Sue Rucker of Marysville; father, Richard Paul Mottlow of Ft. Bragg; children, Kelly Crawford and Ashley Rose Crawford of Spring Valley; stepfather, Randall L. Rucker of Marysville; sisters, Jessica Lynn André, Macála Anne Mottlow, Taana Rucker and Amber Semke; brothers, Jacob Paul Mottlow and Luke Boncore; and grandparents, Sam and Audrey Mottlow.

Bryan will be remembered for his truly magnetic personality. He had an incredibly loving smile, with a little mischief hidden beneath. He naturally drew a crowd and he always made those around him happy.

He loved helping others, cooking, gardening and spending time on his motorcycle, and his father was his riding partner.

He was an exceptional father to his children and a beloved family member and friend. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Services for Bryan will be held in Spring Valley at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at the Spring Valley Community Center 3000 Wolf Creek Road, Clearlake Oaks.

Le Roy Palmer of Clearlake Oaks, Calif., passed away on July 4, 2011.

He was born in Chicago, Ill., on March 15, 1912, and as a young man became interested in the then-new medium of radio, eventually getting an amateur radio operator’s license in 1933.

Also interested in music, he joined his high school chorus and in 1931 sang three performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as a member of that vocal ensemble.

After graduating from high school he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and went on to work for two electrical manufacturing companies in Chicago as a production manager.

In 1958 he received an MBA degree from the University of Chicago and the following year he and his family moved to Belmont, Calif., where he was employed by a company that specialized in aerospace and defense work.

During the 1960s he was involved in the United States space program and worked with a team that designed and manufactured the antenna used to transmit television pictures from the first manned lunar landing.

After retiring in 1977, he devoted his time to managing his investments, working on home improvement projects, took piano lessons, traveled to several countries and bowled as well as played bridge regularly.

In 1984, after his wife Caroline died, he remarried and took up residence with his bride, Elsie, in Mountain View, Calif. She introduced him to square dancing and pinochle and eventually the couple moved to Windsor, Calif., and then to Clearlake Oaks. There he and Elsie quickly made friends with many others in the Keys and often took part in activities at the Clear Lake Keys Club.

Throughout his life he was an avid reader, enjoyed learning new skills, planning personal projects as well as designing and building things and took pleasure in music, particularly opera.

He had a deep appreciation and respect for learning and during his later years audited several college courses available on DVD.

He is survived by his wife, Elsie Carey Palmer; his two children, Frederic Palmer of Belmont, Calif., and Laurel Palmer Lettieri of Mount Vernon, New York; and his two grandchildren, Rebecca Pelfrey of Beachwood, Ohio, and Christian Palmer Pelfrey of Yonkers, New York.

A memorial will be held at the Clear Lake Keys Club, 12980 Lakeland St. in Clearlake Oaks on Saturday, July 16, at 2 p.m.
