LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Richard Theodore Moring Sr., known by most as “Pastor Ted,” “fought the good fight of faith and finished his course” and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Oct. 19, 2018.

Pastor loved preaching and living God’s Word.

Born in Jamestown, North Dakota, in 1925, the family relocated to Fargo, North Dakota. Ted graduated North Central Bible College in 1949.

He married his lovely wife, Della, in July 1950. He pastored churches in Oakley, Kansas, Goodland, Kansas, and San Jose, Calif., before moving to Lake County.

The family operated Pine Dell Resort in Clearlake Park from 1965 to 1970 where he also volunteered on the fire department for five years.

In July 1970 he and his wife began the lighthouse ministry of Evangelistic Community Center (also known as Evangel Christian Center) on Main Street Lower Lake, where he faithfully served as pastor for 48 years.

From 1970 to 1980 he had a local radio program, “Thoughts For Today,” where many around the lake enjoyed his teaching of the Word.

In 1982 they opened Zemorah Christian Academy. In 2016 he began podcasting five-minute inspirational teachings at www.thoughtsfortoday.org . If you asked Pastor how he was, his reply was “fantastic and improving.”

He was man of faith in God that did not waver. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 68 years, Della Moring, and his children, Aileen Roberts, Richard and Ginger Moring Jr., Chuck and Paula Moring, Linda and David Beall, and Debra and Martin Fiedler; 10 loving grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as a sister, Elva Mae Anderson; and nieces, nephews and extended family of all those who were saved and taught under his ministry.

Ted was a World War II veteran and a member of the American Legion. He helped to found the Konocti Ministerial Association.

His encouragement to fully live God’s promises was demonstrated in a favorite verse of his: John 10:10 Jesus said “… I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

A celebration of life service will be held on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. at Calvary Chapel in Clearlake.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gideons, International Memorial Bible Program (www.gideons.org) or John Ankerberg Audio Bible (www.jashow.org).
