KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Steven Fernald Kjos, 62, of Kelseyville passed away on Feb. 25, 2020.

Steven was born to Chander and Ruth Kjos on August 7, 1957, in Walnut Creek, California.

Steven was a Lake County resident for 62 years.

He is preceded in death by his father, Chander.

Steven is survived by his mother, Ruth; brother, Loren; sisters, Ellen and Becky; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is having a private service. In lieu of flowers please send a donation to Hospice of Lake County.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – June B. Benkelman, born Bryant, passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of Feb. 18, 2020, at the age of 97.

June was born in San Jose on June 27, 1922.

At 17 she met and married John Franklin Benkelman to whom she was married happily for 58 years.

They raised two sons, Robert and Ronald.

Until the boys were out of school, she worked in the school cafeterias, so she was known and loved by all the students. She then worked in accounting at San Jose Hospital for many years.

In 1982, June and John moved to Lakeport to follow their sons and families.

June was healthy all her life until a sudden heart attack last December which her body was not able to recover from.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, husband and son, Robert.

She is survived by son, Ronald; grandchildren, Kristen, Mindy, Shellie, Rochelle and Aimee; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Hers was a full and happy life.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Clint Eldon Want was born on July 6, 1976, and passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 20, 2020.

Clint is predeceased by his grandparents, Armstead Want Sr., Wanda Want, Chris Ray Sr. and Mae Crabtree-Ray.

He is survived by his daughter, Majika Want, and her mother, Aurora Long; his grandmother, Mildred Goforth; parents, Jeff Want Sr. and Rosemary Want; brothers, Jeff Want Jr. and Dennis Want; sisters, Dana Want-Novoa and Brandi Want; nephews, Chance Want and Demetri Novoa; nieces, Davina Gurley, Layla Want, Riley Want, Reese Want and Dennissa Want; great-niece, Ellie Mize Gurley; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A small service for those who are unable to make it to Covelo will be held on Friday, Feb. 28, at Robinson Rancheria Gym in Upper Lake at 11 a.m.

He will then be taken to Covelo for the wake Friday night.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 29, at the Methodist Church in Covelo at 11 a.m.

Graveside services will be at Headquarters Cemetery.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Richard Joseph "Joe" Adams, born Dec. 24, 1950, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 15, 2020.

Joe's sense of humor and wit brought happiness and laughter to everyone he met. He had a deep passion for golf, sailing, and everything musical. His caring and compassion for others was unmatched and his values guided him to help anyone who could use a hand. The void that he leaves in our hearts can never be replaced.

Joe was predeceased by his mother, Lorraine Adams and father, Dick Adams. He is survived by his two sons, grandson, daughters-in-law, two sisters, nieces, and numerous other family and friends.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Stanley Leo Murphy Sr., age 67, of Clearlake passed into God’s hands surrounded by family on Feb. 24, 2020, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Stan was born on April 18, 1952, in San Mateo, California, to Elaine and Dave Murphy. He was the youngest of three brothers.

Stan was an incredibly generous person who was well known for his amazing smile, tell-it-like-it-is demeanor, as well as his fun and mischievous personality.

Besides spending time with his family and friends, Stan enjoyed the outdoors, basketball, travel, concerts, long Sunday drives, and was known to enjoy his fair share of beer and tequila.

Stan will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Kerry; his brothers, Tim and Dave; his children, Leo, Sherri, Jenny, Brian and Perry; nine grandchildren; and numerous wonderful friends and family.

A celebration of Stan’s life will be held for family and friends starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at the Calvary Chapel Clearlake at 14330 Memory Lane, Clearlake.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Marie Elizabeth Frease was born in Upper Lake, California, on July 27, 1958, and passed away on Feb. 21, 2020, at her home in Lakeport.

Marie was full of fun and was a loving and caring person who lived her life to the fullest.

Marie is predeceased by her parents, Claudina Shockley and Cardinos Frease Sr.; brothers, Richard Frease and Jody Frease; son, Clifford Frease; sisters, Evelyn Frease and Cindi Frease.

She is survived by her children, Leticia Marie Frease, Angel Mitchell (who she raised as her own) and Sanchez Mitchell; life long partner, Eugene Mitchell; brothers, (Johnny) Cardinos Frease Jr., Dave Frease Sr. and Allen Shockley; sisters, Yvonne Frease Duran, Linda Shockley and Larena Penhall; four granddaughters, Crystal (Crissy), Brandy, Breanna and Severine Mitchell; and many nieces and nephews.

Traditional Native American visitation will be held at the family home starting on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m.

A graveside funeral service will be held at Robinson Rancheria Cemetery on Mockingbird Lane in Upper Lake on Friday, Feb. 28, at 1 p.m.
