LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – William H.H. Wolfe passed away in Lakeport on Oct. 25, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Berkeley in 1932, he moved to Santa Rosa in 1935 and graduated from Santa Rosa High School.

After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, he graduated from San Jose State University and worked for many years as a financial planner and stockbroker until moving his family to Lakeport in 1970 in order to begin his second career as owner of Lakeport Tire Service.

His greatest pleasure came from serving his community on the boards of the Kelseyville Fire Protection District, the Lakeport Volunteer Fire Department, the Lakeport Unified School District Board, the Lakeport Rotary, the United Way of Sonoma, Lake & Mendocino Counties and the Governor’s Advisory Board for Sonoma Developmental Center.

The third “Commander” of the “Derby Hat Club” of Lake County, he will be remembered as the leader of that club for the last 30 of its 54-year history

Preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Vivian Wolfe, his brother, Phil Wolfe, his forever friends Martha Wolfe and Scott Karuza, he is survived by his son, Mark Wolfe; daughter, Carol Karuza; granddaughters, Jordan Karuza, Jillian Karuza, Jamie Karuza and Jenna (David) Crusenberry; sister-in-law, Sandra Wolfe; nephews, Scott (Holly) Wolfe and Patrik Wolfe; and cousins, Toni (Bob) Funderburg and Steve (Diane) Jones.

The family wishes to thank the many people who have been Bill’s angels of assistance as his age and health took its toll. Each of you allowed him to continue his life “His Way” until the end. The family is also grateful to everyone at the Lakeport Post Acute Care Center for their excellent professional care and support given to Bill and his family through his last days.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport, with burial at Hartley Cemetery. At Bill’s request, friends and family are invited to a potluck celebration following the burial at the Little Theater, Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin St., Lakeport.
