LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Jean Lorraine Summers Hendricks passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, with her family by her side.
She was born Aug. 23, 1924, in Upper Lake to Vane and Millie Pitney.
Jean was a proud descendant of the pioneering Pitney, Alley, Davis, Jones and Pickle families in Lake, Mendocino and Sonoma counties.
She grew up spending time at such places as Lake Pillsbury Dam, Bear Creek, Soda Springs, Pine Mountain Lookout and the old Elk Mountain Ranger Station where her father Vane worked. She loved camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and making pine needle baskets.
Jean worked as a secretary for the Forest Service as well as a secretary for the Upper Lake and Lakeport school districts.
She is preceded in death by husbands, Charles Summers and Jerry Hendricks. She is survived by daughters, Judy Power and Bonnie Summers (Jerry); grandchildren, Troy Rolzinski (Eileen), Tim Power (Justin Zentner), Travis Rolzinski and Brian Power (Michelle); along with numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
