LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Patricia Beatrice Kacharos (Pat Grinols) passed into eternal peace on Nov. 2, 2017, with her family near and her spirit strong.

Pat was born Nov. 22, 1940, in Portola, Calif., to Theda and Hank Schneider.

She was raised with her sisters, Nancy, Martha and Susy in Mill Valley where she met and married Stephen Kacharos in 1958.

The couple built a house in Cotati, Calif., and had three children, Douglas, David and Sandra.

She always loved Clear Lake and the family spent many days at their summer home in Horseshoe Bay in Lake County. Later, she settled in Lake County and in 1978 married James Burl Grinols, her enduring companion to the end.

She is survived by her children; her grandchildren, Douglas II and wife Ashley, Serena, Michael, Dawn, Stephanie, Robert and David; and 11 beloved great-grandchildren. Not to forget Lil Guy, her faithful dog, and his buddy, Theo, who never failed to lift her spirits.

As a teen, Pat worked for her father at Hank’s Auto Repair in Sausalito, where her passion for classic cars and her interest in business and accounting emerged.

She cherished all of nature, loved parades and was a student of history. She appreciated a sense of community and was an active member of the Lakeport Elk’s Lodge.

She welcomed heartfelt gatherings among family and friends and found joy in small things and simple gestures.

Pat was courageous and unwavering in her convictions, and was invested in helping others overcome hardships.

She gave all she had and more for those she held dear, and her devotion was ever present.

May her spirit be free and her memory alive forever in our hearts.

To all the kind souls who gave their time, compassion and love in her time of need, you are deserving of our heartfelt gratitude. Thank you.

A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at 3375 Bell Hill Road in Kelseyville, Calif.
