Rick C. White
July 9, 1954-April 13, 2015

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Rick lost his short battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 60.

He leaves behind a legacy of a loving family, friends, coworkers, and business associates who had the utmost respect for his loyalty, gentle leadership and kindness.

Rick was born in San Francisco and spent his years growing up in the Bay Area.

He graduated from Sunset High School in Hayward, Calif., in 1972.

He attended Chabot College and had a short marriage that gave him his first daughter, Michelle Lynne White (1973).

He worked for Bancheros Italian Restaurant for several years while helping support his daughter.

In 1976 he connected with an old high school friend, Debbie Harrison, and they fell in love and got married in 1977.

He started working for Piedmont Lumber in Walnut Creek in 1977 until he was promoted to manager of their new store in Lakeport in 1983.

During this time three more children were born: Casey James White (1978), Levi Robert White (1980) and Mallory B White (1984).

During his time with Piedmont Lumber, Rick facilitated sponsoring more than 60 little league teams and coached his children from Tee Ball to Senior League in Kelseyville Little League.

He was president of the Kelseyville Little League and helped bring it out of bankruptcy in the 1980s with the help of a group of parents.

Rick was an avid Giants fan all of his life so the family attended many games together and his teams were the Giants or wore black and orange uniforms.

Rick was a mentor to many youth and was an exemplary role model to all the young people he coached.

During his employment with Piedmont, as manager, he authorized the funding of community projects, donations to hundreds of non-profits, supplies to schools, Eagle Scout projects, building supplies for community projects, and discounts for a multitude of projects for the elderly or disabled.

Piedmont closed their doors in 2010 after the recession and Mendo Mill acquired the business and kept the employees and Rick as manager.

He managed the Mendo Mill store in Lakeport until his last day on April 13, 2015.

He was admired and respected by the community, his coworkers, his business associates and management.
