LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Richard Joseph Chaboya was born in Saratoga, Calif., on Nov. 14, 1930, and left this earth cherished by his daughter and grandchildren on Oct. 18, 2013.

Richard, the youngest of four children, grew up in the Saratoga area and attended Los Gatos High School.

He met the love of his life, Vivian Fraser, and was married in 1951.

Shortly after getting married he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was stationed in Yokohama, Japan for two years, from 1951 to 1953. He was an infantry gunner whose job was to man a .50-caliber anti-aircraft weapon.

Once he returned home from the war he began working for PG&G in San Francisco for 15 years and then another 12 years for the city of San Francisco as a Civil Service Plumber. Richard was part of the Local 38 Plumber and Pipefitters Union.

During this time Richard and Vivian welcomed their daughter Suzanne Cecelia Chaboya on April 29, 1953.

He retired in 1980 and moved to Lakeport, Calif., with his daughter. After relocating, Richard worked for 20 years as a caretaker and gardener for different homes and estates. He worked many years at Via Del Lago in Lakeport, and also maintained two beautiful estates in New Castle and Healdsburg. He moved back to Lake County to be near his family in 2008.
