Dorothy Lorraine (Ryan) Beck

Dorothy Lorraine Beck was born on May 3, 1926, to Joseph Henry (Hank) and Hazel Marie Ryan in Galena, Kansas.

Dorothy was born in her dear Uncle Jake and Aunt Addie's home. Dorothy passed from this earth on July 3, 2012. She passed peacefully, in her home in Lakeport, which was her wish, looking out at the lake that she and her husband so loved, with a full moon.

Her energetic soul has now passed to her children, sisters – and the so very many people she touched throughout her life.

Dorothy lived in many places throughout her life. She lived in Bremerton, Wash., during World War II, where she was proud to be a part of the Pacific war effort.

Dorothy married and settled in beautiful Northern California, raising and caring for her family in Napa and Glen Ellen.

She was an acknowledged member of the Business Womans Professional Club. She was very generous and always had an open to door to friends and family.

Dorothy was an active member of the Moose Lodge, and loved to be a part of the events shared through her membership.

Dorothy and her husband William (Bill), retired in Lakeport, Calif., as they had always wanted to do.

Dorothy was a beautiful woman who managed a career while always having time for her family. Dorothy truly enjoyed her time with family and friends. She enjoyed people, gardening, boating, water skiing and dancing. She loved the outdoors and sharing her time with others.

Dorothy will be missed greatly and will be remembered in our hearts forever.

Dorothy is survived by her four children; three sons, Michael (Diane) Beck of Middletown, Calif., William H. (Michelle) Beck III, of Folsom, Calif., Rodney Beck of Nice, Calif., and her daughter, Carrie (Lionel) Robertson of Liberty, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Beck, Matthew Beck, Shawn Sullivan, Stacy Sullivan, Hank Beck, Kristopher McClain; and 11 great grandchildren.

Dorothy is also survived by her sisters, Beverly Robbins, Donna Jenkins, and Yvonne Mack, as well as her double cousins Gordon Ryan and Karen Kerr.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, William H. Beck Jr.; her grandson, Rodney Beck Jr.; her sisters, Joanne Kingsland and Barbara King; her brother, Donald Ryan; and her double cousin, Jerry Ryan.

Services for Dorothy will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July, 9 at Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, 1625 N. High St., Lakeport. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Hartley Cemetery.
