Diane Klier-Malley

dianekliermalley

Diane Klier-Malley was born Aug. 1, 1950 and passed away peacefully at her residence in Blue Lakes June 1, 2012, at the age of 61.

Her family founded and developed the small resort community of Blue Lakes, including the Blue Lakes Lodge.

Diane graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1968, then went on to graduate from Sonoma State University with a bachelor of arts degree in liberal studies and multiple subject teaching credential.

A lifelong resident of Lake County, Diane dedicated her life to educating the youth of Lake and Mendocino counties.

Diane was a teacher in Lakeport for 12 years, after which she taught 11 years in THE Ukiah Unified School District. She retired in 2010 from Calpella Elementary School.

Since her retirement she continued her contribution to education by substitute teaching and helping in her granddaughter's classroom at Upper Lake Elementary.

During her years in education she touched many lives and will be remembered for the positive impact she made on both her students and colleagues.

Diane loved reading, traveling, camping, and spending time with her dogs and cats. Diane's greatest love was her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Irwin and Joanne D'Albert, and her first husband, Walter Klier.

She is survived by her two sons, Christian (Janice) Klier and Nathan (Katherine) Klier. She is also survived by her husband of 22 years, Tom Malley, and stepsons, Paul (Margaret) Malley, Eric Malley, and stepdaughter, Sherri Malley.

She sadly leaves behind five granddaughters, Paris Klier, Portia Klier, Lily Klier, Kailani Malley and Abbigael Malley.

Diane lived a life of joy, surrounding herself with family, friends and pets that all loved her. The impact she made on those who knew her is immeasurable. Her family, friends, and the entire community will forever mourn the loss of such a wonderful, giving, beautiful spirit.

Anyone who would like to make a donation in her name, please give to your local SPCA to honor her love for animals.

Services will be held at Chapel of the Lakes on Sunday, June 10, 2012, at 1 p.m.

There will be a memorial to celebrate her life afterwards at the Blue Lakes Lodge for close friends and family.
