Lake County Global Climate Strike event set for Sept. 26

LAKEPORT, Calif. – On Thursday, Sept. 26, Lake County residents will join together with young people and adults across the US and around the world to strike from school and work to demand just and equitable climate action.

The group will meet at 255 N. Main St. at the Courthouse Museum Park in Lakeport at 11:30 a.m.

They will march as a group down to the local JPMorganChase bank branch to present a letter to the manager protesting Chase’s dominant position as the world’s foremost investor in fossil fuels.

Come with your signs and slogans. Don’t forget to bring water and good shoes to stand in.

The Lake County event is one of thousands of events like this taking part around the world during the week of Sept. 20 to 26.

During this time, hundreds of thousands of people across the U.S. – and the world – are heading out to the streets to demand that world leaders, the government and the fossil fuel industry change course immediately to avoid a climate catastrophe.

Scientists agree that we have about 10 years to save our communities, future generations and the planet from extreme natural disasters.
