CLEARLAKE, Calif. – On Wednesday, Nov. 14, the Clearlake City Council partnered with Golden State Water Co. to distribute 50 turkeys for the holidays to families in need.
Golden State Water’s Operation Gobble program distributed more than 8,000 Thanksgiving turkeys throughout the month of November to nonprofit organizations that benefit local families and individuals with limited resources.
Since the program’s inception in 1990, Golden State Water has already provided approximately 232,000 turkeys through partnerships with elected officials and community organizations.
In Lake County, the turkeys were distributed as follows: Highlands Senior Center, 100; Clearlake Youth Center, 13; First Assembly of God, 13; Clearlake United Methodist Church, 12; Calvary Chapel of Clearlake, 12; and charities recommended by the Clearlake City Council, 50.
"Operation Gobble has become an important part of the holiday season for all of our employees who understand the significant impact a warm Thanksgiving meal can make for our neighbors that have limited resources,” said Ronald Moore, Golden State Water’s Operation Gobble project leader. “We appreciate the partnership of our elected officials and community organizations who work closely with us to ensure the turkeys find their way to those who need them most.”
“We appreciate our partnership with the Clearlake City Council, Clearlake Youth Center, Highlands Senior Center and various churches in our community and applaud their work to ensure these turkeys find their way to those who need them most,” said Paul Schubert, Northern District General Manager for Golden State Water. “Our employees look forward to Operation Gobble every year because they take pride in serving the community and understand how a warm holiday meal can positively impact an individual or family in need.”
