PG&E completes replacing underground electric and gas lines in Redwood Valley

REDWOOD VALLEY, Calif. – Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) on Monday announced the completion of the next phase in supporting customers and communities in Mendocino County following the devastating wildfires in October 2017.

Crews have completed building new underground electric and gas utilities in Redwood Valley.

The goal was to safely complete digging the trenches, which was the most visible work, installing the cable and conduit and pressurizing the new gas main by the end of the year. The work was completed by October – two months early.

“We’d like to thank our customers for being patient during this major construction work. We hope the professionalism of the crews and our customer care team demonstrates what PG&E stands for and our commitment to them,” said Robin Christensen, head of PG&E’s Northern California rebuilding team.

PG&E gas crews installed over 4,780 feet of new gas distribution main along Tomki and Fisher Lake Drive, which was not previously supplied to the area prior to the wildfire.

Additionally, PG&E electric crews pulled more than a mile of electric wire through conduit. The new systems will provide power or gas to almost 300 customers in the area.

PG&E will continue to work with Mendocino County on a permanent re-paving solution. In the meantime, residents in the area may see temporary street asphalt.

In Potter Valley, PG&E is working with customers on a one-to-one basis to set up new service as customers choose to rebuild.
