Decision signed for Four Beetles South project

WILLOWS, Calif. — Acting Forest Supervisor Gar Abbas has signed the decision memo to implement the Four Beetles South Forest Health Improvement Project on the Grindstone Ranger District in the Mendocino National Forest.

The approved project includes forest vegetation treatments designed to improve forest health through strategic and innovative timber sales, noncommercial treatments and prescribed burning, as well as road maintenance and reforestation activities.

The project area involves approximately 1,660 acres of National Forest lands, 30 miles west of Orland in Tehama County. Implementation of projects may begin immediately and could take as many as 10 years to complete.

“The purpose of this project is to improve forest health conditions with a focus on insect and disease infestations. We appreciate the participation and input from many partners and members of the public that went into designing and analyzing this project. These collaborative efforts will result in healthier forest conditions for many years to come,” said Abbas.

The decision memo is posted on the forest Web site at https://www.fs.usda.gov/projects/mendocino/landmanagement/projects.
