Nonprofit governance workshops offered Oct. 11 and 25

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Nonprofit leaders from Lake and Mendocino counties will converge on two Saturday mornings at the Mendocino College Lake Center in Lakeport for a much-anticipated workshop.

Sessions will be held on Oct. 11 and Oct. 25.

“Nonprofit Organization 101” will be led by Terry Fries, a member of the Mendocino College faculty, a Lake County resident and a consultant to more than 80 not-for-profit organizations and professional associations that have raised more than $200 million dollars with his coaching.

The group will discuss the three key responsibilities of volunteer board members, how to move from over-dependence on government grants, and how to embrace the growing opportunities for consolidation with other organizations to reduce cost and increase program strength.

Topics also will include key areas in governance and fund raising for nonprofit organizations.

The schedule of workshops is:

– Saturday, Oct. 11, “Governance” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
– Saturday, Oct. 25, “Fundraising” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This is an affordable and rare opportunity to bring your employees and board members together to discuss new initiatives for your nonprofit.

The cost is only $49 per person and includes both sessions.

Please contact Patti Gulyas at 707-468-3236 for more information or to register.

Mendocino College Lake Center is located at 2565 Parallel Drive, Lakeport.
