Local families to benefit from No Name Car Show June 2

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Families that benefit from Lake Family Resource Center will be a little better off thanks to a lot of people with classic cars and wooden boats as the No Name Car Club’s annual car show moves to Konocti Vista Casino on Saturday, June 2, along with the Wood & Glory boat show.

In past years more than 100 vintage automobiles from all over have been driven in to participate and expectations are higher for participation in this year’s event due to there being no entry fee for vehicles.

Among the many items that are being raffled off is a beautiful antique gas pump replica. The chance to take home this beauty always attracts a great deal of interest and it’s quite a spectacular prize for the winner with this year’s pump featuring a glass globe on top that reads, “Polly” with the image of a bird on the glass.

The annual gathering of beautifully restored wooden boats and historic vehicles, hot rods and classics is a popular event for spectators as well as vehicle and boat owners.

Open to all vehicles built before 1973, the show highlights vehicular Americana and the talents of restoration and craftsmanship of hot rodding.

On the water, the Antique and Classic Boat Society holds a showcase of wooden boats. There also will be a display of vintage speed boats this year, while music fills the air, barbecue fills the belly and the large number of raffle prizes offer an opportunity to win something special while making a donation that helps others.

Judging the car show portion includes 10 awards including best of show, best modified, best graphics, best interior, club participation, ladies choice and a number of others.

All told there will be 20 awards handed out on including 10 participant awards and 10 judged awards.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. but early arrivals can partake in the Boy Scouts' popular pancake breakfast as early at 7 a.m.

This year the show has moved to Konocti Vista Casino to provide even more parking for vintage automobiles and boats plus even more activities and food options for spectators and those showing vehicles.

“Konocti Vista has been an incredible partner,” said No Name Car President Tony Barthel. “They’ve pulled out all the stops and really allowed us to focus our attention on the car show while they handle most of the logistics.”

There are also deals at Konocti Vista’s hotel for show goers with a great rate of just $79 per night.

In addition to fabulous cars and boats there will also be beautiful pin-up models waiting to pose with spectators or vehicles as well. Pictures will be available for purchase with the funds also going to help the charity. Of course the raffle table will be loaded with great opportunities as well.

Lake Family Resource Center serves Lake County in achieving safe, sustainable, healthy families and community. Lake Family Resource Center is committed to serving the needs of all families in Lake County. Most services are provided at no-cost which is why the No Name Car Club voted to donate all the show’s proceeds to this worthy cause.

Rather than charge an entry fee for the car show, the No Name Car Club is hoping that raffle prizes and donations will help this year’s show set a record in funds collected for charity.

This is a new format where anybody with a qualifying vehicle may enter the show the day of with no entry fee. This also means a much greater variety of vehicles will be on display so spectators will win, too.

Information about the show including participant applications, maps and more can be had via the No Name Car Club Web site at http://www.thenonamecarclub.com .
