LOWER LAKE, Calif. – The Lake County Historical Society will hold its general membership meeting on Sunday, Feb. 26, at the Lower Lake Historic Schoolhouse Museum, 16435 Main St.
Join them at 1 p.m. to relax and enjoy an extraordinary PowerPoint program by Barbara White, archaeologist with the Mendocino National Forest, and Bob Weaver, archaeological technician, on the discovery and excavation of a prehistoric Yuki Village in Lake County.
This prehistoric village at a secret location in Lake County was first recorded in the 1970s.
Careful, delicate excavation with hand tools began in 2004 by a volunteer organization known as Passport in Time, followed by washing and cataloging artifacts.
All Lake County Historical Society members and guests are invited to attend. The public also is invited; you need not be a member but you may join while there if you desire.
Refreshments will be available. Donated cookies and cake to share would be appreciated.
If you have any questions please call President Phil Smoley at 707-349-1008 or Vice-President John Parker at 707-274-2233.
