LUCERNE, Calif. – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said it has arrested an Upper Lake man for an assault at a Lucerne park on Friday, and it’s asking for additional witnesses who may have seen the incident.
Taylor Roland Fabisch, 26, was arrested on Saturday, according to Lt. Corey Paulich.
At 2:50 p.m. Friday, Lake County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an assault that had occurred at Alpine Park in Lucerne, Paulich said.
When deputies arrived, they found a 54-year-old male victim with a severe head injury, according to Paulich.
Paulich said the victim was treated and later transported by air ambulance to an out-of-county hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Witnesses at Alpine Park told deputies that a male subject in his 20s walked up yelling at the victim about urinating in front of children, Paulich said.
Paulich said the victim had his back to the male subject, who then punched the victim in the head, causing the victim to fall to the ground. The subject who committed the assault then ran away from the park.
Witnesses were able to identify the man who committed the assault as Fabisch, who Paulich said deputies located in Upper Lake on Saturday.
Fabisch admitted to being at Alpine Park the previous day, but denied assaulting anyone, Paulich said.
Paulich said Fabisch was arrested and transported to the Lake County Jail where he was booked into custody for battery with serious bodily injury.
Fabisch remained in custody on Monday with bail set at $30,000. He is tentatively scheduled to be arraigned in Lake County Superior Court on Tuesday.
Anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has additional information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Office at 707-262-4236.
