Public helps sheriff’s office identify burglary suspect

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – A Clearlake man has been taken into custody thanks to tips from community members that helped authorities identify him in connection to a burglary
Leonard Patrick Franklin Jr., 30, of Clearlake, was arrested on Thursday, according to a report from Sgt. Corey Paulich of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
On June 30 the Lake County Sheriff’s Office requested the public’s help with identifying the a man in connection to a burglary that occurred in the Clearlake Park area earlier that week, as Lake County News has reported.
The subject broke into a residence, taking several items, and his image was captured on a surveillance camera, Paulich said.
Paulich said the sheriff’s office received several tips regarding the possible identity of the subject responsible for the burglary.
Detectives from the Sheriff's Major Crimes Unit followed up on the tips and were able to positively identify the man as Franklin, Paulich said.
Based on the investigation a warrant for Franklin's arrest was issued by the Lake County Superior Court, and Franklin was taken into custody by detectives on Thursday, Paulich said.
Paulich said Franklin was booked into the Lake County Jail, with bail set at $50,000.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office thanked the public for its assistance with keeping the county’s communities safe.
