MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – The Middletown Arts Center (MAC) is launching a new program, open to the public, called “Art Talks.”

“Art Talks” is designed to excite, enrich and inform the public about the arts including visual and performing arts, cinema and the written word.

In each talk, artists or art aficionados will discuss the work, influences, historical context and work processes.

Art Talk is an interactive experience, an opportunity to learn, expand horizons, meet people and engage in conversations about art.

The first Art Talks presentation will feature painter Harlan Sadberry.

Sadberry will present an engaging talk at MAC from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 28.

MAC is located in downtown Middletown at 21456 State Highway 175 and Highway 29. The suggested donation is $5. Light refreshments will be available.

Born in 1945 in Stockton, Calif., Sadberry studied art at the San Francisco Art Institute from 1977 to 1980 and is a longtime Anderson Springs resident.

Sadberry also is the security chief at Harbin Hot Springs. After assisting the guests to evacuate during the Sept. 12, 2015, Valley fire emergency, he couldn’t get to his home in Anderson Springs.

Miraculously, his house was one of the very few to survive, and in it, his series of large paintings called “The Tree of Life.”

Two works from “The Tree of Life” series are part of Mac’s ninth exhibition, “Loose Affiliations,” on display until June 26.
