NORTH COAST, Calif. – The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible homicide reported early Monday in the Laytonville area.
Scant details were released about the case, which was reported to the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office shortly before 8 a.m. Monday, according to a report from Lt. Greg Van Patten.
Van Patten said the person who reported it to authorities had received secondhand information of a possible homicide at a remote location on Spyrock Road in Laytonville.
Based upon the reported information personnel from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol and California Department of Fish & Wildlife responded to the location, Van Patten said.
At 11:15 a.m. Monday law enforcement personnel arrived at the location and found one deceased person, according to Van Patten.
He said sheriff's detectives responded to the location and began an investigation into the circumstances of the person's death.
Additional information will be released as the investigation continues, he said.
