LAKEPORT, Calif. – A single-vehicle rollover crash near Highland Springs on Sunday night resulted in two people being transported by air ambulance to regional trauma centers.
The crash occurred just before 8:30 p.m. on Highland Springs Road near Rodello Road, three miles from Highway 29, according to the California Highway Patrol and radio reports.
Initial reports from the scene indicated people were trapped inside the car.
Lakeport Fire Chief Ken Wells, arriving on scene a few minutes earlier, said all three of the males who had been in the car had gotten out of it, with the car off the road and on its top.
Wells told Lake County News that the car had gone straight through a curve, hit a ditch and went into a nearby vineyard.
A mutual aid medic unit responded from Kelseyville Fire and Wells requested extra personnel to help tend to the patients and prepare two of them for transport.
Wells also requested two air ambulances to transport two of the crash victims.
REACH 6 and CalStar 4 responded, with nearby Lampson Field used as the landing zone, reports from the scene indicated.
REACH transported one male with major injuries to Enloe Hospital in Chico, with CalStar taking the second patient, who had moderate injuries, to UC Davis Medical Center, Wells said.
The third subject in the vehicle was treated and released at the scene, according to Wells.
