LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Two forums will take place in October featuring the candidates for the city councils in Clearlake and Lakeport.
The Clearlake council forum will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, in the council chambers at Clearlake City Hall, 14050 Olympic Drive.
The Lakeport council forum will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, in the council chambers at Lakeport City Hall, 225 Park St.
The forums will be hosted by Lake County News and moderated by Editor and Publisher Elizabeth Larson.
The election is Nov. 8.
Running for three seats on the Clearlake City Council area incumbents Nick Bennett and Joyce Overton, businessman Phil Harris, former mayor and current Board of Equalization staffer Joey Luiz, Jeremy Mayfield and Bill Shields.
In Lakeport, there also are three council seats on the ballot. Running for the seats are incumbent and local businessman Kenny Parlet; businessman Tim Barnes; consultant and medical marijuana advocate Michael S. Green; former councilman and retired business manager Ted Mandrones; Nate Maxman, director of the Northshore Community Center in Lucerne; and George Spurr, an analyst and programmer who serves on the Lakeport Planning Commission.
All candidates have confirmed that they will be in attendance at their respective forums.
Both forums are estimated to run about an hour and a half long.
The events will be video recorded for broadcast on Lake County News.
