Churches plan Palm Sunday services

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Churches around Lake County will be marking the beginning of Holy Week with a Palm Sunday service on March 25.

The following is a list of churches and their announced services.

Kelseyville Presbyterian Church, 5340 3rd St.: 10 a.m., traditional Palm Sunday service with music. Followed by coffee and refreshments in the Fellowship Hall.

United Christian Parish, 745 Brush St., Lakeport: 10 a.m., “From Palms to Passion,” commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. The praise team provides music.

Lakeport Christian Center, 455 S. Forbes St.: 10:30 a.m., Palm Sunday service will include worship, music and a water baptism.

First Lutheran Church, 3863 Country Club Drive, Lucerne: 11 a.m., service will focus on “Living in Grace by Being Humble” and talk specifically about how Jesus’ humility is an example to us all as we move to further embrace and beautify our community. The service will be followed by a hot lunch.

Upper Lake Community United Methodist Church, 604 Clover Valley Road: 11 a.m., the church Chancel choir will process in with palms, commemorating when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and was greeted by a joyful crowd and recapitulates the beginning and the end of Christ’s final week in Jerusalem. They will then move from a triumphant procession of hope to conclude with a different kind of procession, a forced march with a crucifix.
