UPPER LAKE, Calif. – Upper Lake Community United Methodist invites the community to join its congregation on the sixth and last Sunday of Lent and the beginning of Holy Week, the week in which Christians celebrate the mystery of their salvation through Christ's Death and His Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

On Palm Sunday, April 13, they will commemorate the triumphal entrance of Christ into Jerusalem, when palm branches were placed in His path, before His arrest on Holy (Maundy) Thursday and His Crucifixion on Good Friday.

They Holy Thursday service, also known as Maundy Thursday, will be an evening service as will the Good Friday solemn service which will commence at 7 p.m.

Good Friday is the most somber day of the entire year. In this service silence pervades, socializing is kept to a minimum, things are done quietly, it is a day of mourning, it is a funeral.

You are encouraged to fully participate in the journey together to follow Jesus through all the Holy Week services.

The church sees each of these services not as a standalone event, but as part of an experience that engages us in the story that shapes and defines lives.

The week culminates in the Easter Sunday service on April 20. Join them at 7 a.m. for the sunrise service and at 11 a.m. for the traditional Easter service and flowering of the cross to celebrate the resurrection.

Pastor Wanda Celli will officiate all of the services listed.  Bring your friends and family, all are welcome to any or all of the events at the Upper Lake Community United Methodist Church, which his located at 604 Clover Valley Road.
