BlueWolf to speak at Unitarian service on indigenous spirituality

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The service on Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Unitarian Universalist Community of Lake County will be presented by James BlueWolf, award-winning author and former Lake County Poet Laureate.

The service begins at 11 a.m. at the church, located at First and Main streets in Kelseyville.

Guests are welcome.

BlueWolf will speak on “Indigenous Spirituality: Respect, Relationship, Mystery and Magic.”

Of his talk, BlueWolf said, “Indigenous spirituality proceeds from a different viewpoint than many of the world’s traditional religions. Rather than being centered on the individual's relationship to a belief or dogma, the indigenous peoples do not separate themselves and their spirituality from their environment, focusing on the whole of creation finding balance, rather than a salvation of the self.”

BlueWolf has lived around Clear Lake since 1981. He is the author of “Speaking for Fire,” a tale presented in lyrical storytelling style and lavishly illustrated with cut-paper designs by Carolyn Wing Greenlee, as well as many other books of poetry and lore.
