Organ tissue donors and veterans are remembered at Middletown UMC

MIDDLETOWN – Organ Tissue Donor Week has been announced for United Methodist during the week of Nov. 8.


Voris Brumfield will give the message at the Middletown Methodist Church at the 9:45 a.m. Sunday New Life Service which also honors veterans. A fellowship hour follows the service.


A special program will be offered on Nov. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon. Deacon Peggy Thompson will present a program, “All about Eve.” This program is open to the public.


Continuing programs at the church include Parenting Support Group Mondays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Explore the Word Bible Study and group discussion on Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Women’s Empowerment coordinated by Lake Family Resource Center on Wednesdays.


An exhibit of "Painted Cotton Wall Hangings" by local fabric artist Shirley Dodge are being displayed in the sanctuary through Nov. 24 and are available for public viewing Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon.


Emergency food distribution will be Wednesday, Nov. 11, and Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.


A free community Thanksgiving dinner is being offered from noon to 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day at the Church Social Hall, jointly sponsored by area churches and volunteers. Renaissance Pageant & Feast tickets are now on sale at the Lake County Arts Council and Neft and Neft Realtors in Middletown for the first two weekends of December. Tickets are $30 for the three-course feast and 90 minutes of nonstop entertainment until Nov. 23, then prices go to $35..
