Flotilla offers boating safety classes

LAKEPORT The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 88 of Lake County, is offering boating safety and seamanship classes for the boating public.

The course will cover many subjects such as personal safety around water, basic boating information, boating law and rules of the road, basic operation of a variety of vessels, and accident prevention and rescue.

The first of the one-day courses will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Sheriff’s Department Training Room at the Lake County Detention Facility Campus, 4913 Helbush in Lakeport.

Additional courses will be held on June 9, July 21 and Aug. 18. Cost of material for the course is $25.

Flotilla 88 encourages the boating public to sign up for this important boating safety course. It has been proved that many injuries and accidents have been avoided and many lives have been saved by the knowledge acquired in the safe boating courses.
