LAKEPORT Sutter Lakeside Wellness Center's T'ai Chi instructor Arch Kottler invites individuals to participate in World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day on Saturday, April 28.

To celebrate this special day Kottler will hold a free outdoor T'ai Chi class in the beautiful healing gardens located just outside the Wellness Center at 5176 Hill Road East in Lakeport from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Spectators and T'ai Chi enthusiasts are welcome to join in the global health and healing event.

Internationally, this event begins in New Zealand and will spread by time zones across the globe through 60 countries and across six continents. This healing wave will promote calm and wellness worldwide.

T'ai Chi and Qigong (Chi Kung) are health technologies evolved over several thousand years of research in China and are growing in popularity worldwide. They are used in hospitals, wellness centers, businesses, prisons, schools and other institutions.

Research shows that T'ai Chi and Qigong have been shown to reduce anxiety, depression and chronic pain conditions. They boost the immune system, improve respiratory function, burn calories, dramatically improve balance, provide cardiovascular benefit, provide powerful stress management tools and slow aspects of the aging process.

T'ai Chi classes are held Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. at Sutter Lakeside Wellness Center.
