CLEAR LAKE STATE PARK – Join naturalist photographer Brad Barnwell at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, for a nature/photo walk in Clear Lake State Park.
Meet at the visitor center ramp. Bring binoculars and camera. The walk will concentrate on observing and photographing wildlife. Rain/snow cancels. There is no entrance fee to the park for participating in walks.
Barnwell recently photographed great-horned owls near the Dorn Trail. He has spotted red-tailed, red-shouldered, sharp-shinned and Cooper’s hawks, as well as peregrine falcons in the area.
Bald eagles also are frequenting the park. Heron and duck species can be seen in the creeks and near the shoreline. Many songbirds are wintering in the park. Expect the unexpected.
Barnwell is a member of the Clear Lake State Park Interpretive Association Board of Directors.
