LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – Lake County Public Health reported that it is making some adjustments to the COVID-19 testing schedule due to the changing weather, staffing issues and the holidays.

The Lakeport site will be moved from the Mendocino College campus to the Lake County Health Department at 922 Bevins Court for Thursday and Friday testing days. The Clearlake site will be Redbud Library, located at 14785 Burns Valley Road, Clearlake.

Here is the upcoming schedule:

– Thursday, Nov, 19, the test site will be closed due to a planned protest. All appointments for the Nov. 19 flu clinic have been filled, and will be happening at the scheduled time.
– Friday, Nov. 20, the hours will go from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Lakeport at the Health Department.
– Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, the test site will be operating at the Redbud Library in Clearlake, from 9 a.m. to noon.
– Wednesday, Nov. 25, the site will be in Lakeport at the Health Department from 9 a.m. to noon. The Middletown site will be cancelled that day.
– Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27, the site will be cancelled due to the holidays.
– On Monday, Nov. 30, they will resume the usual schedule.

With the new surge in cases locally and around the state, the agency encourages everyone to have a safe Thanksgiving and stay home. This holiday season is an important time to be particularly careful.

Officials said they are seeing an increase in the number of people getting COVID-19 testing this week, apparently because they think a negative test means they are safe to travel.

Remember, getting a test before essential travel is reasonable, but getting a negative test result is only a snapshot for the moment. It does not mean that you are safe to travel, or that you won’t get the virus if you come into contact with someone who has it.

Given the high demand now, there may not be enough appointments to get a test. If you need one and can’t get an appointment, check with your medical provider.

Also, LabCorp has a mail-in option. Go to their website, and you can order a kit to be shipped to your house, then you have to take the sample, and mail it off. Many people are getting results within 24 to 48 hours using this method.

Public Health officials are very concerned about the rise in cases that will come with increased travel and mixing of households around Thanksgiving.

Community members are urged to do their part in keeping the community safe by taking extra precautions this holiday season.

El sitio de Lakeport se va a mover del campus de Mendocino College al Departamento de Salud del Condado de Lake en 922 Bevins Ct. para nuestros días de prueba los jueves y viernes. El sitio de Clearlake será Biblioteca Redbud, ubicada en 14785 Burns Valley Rd, Clearlake.

Aquí está el próximo calendario:
• Jueves 19 de noviembre (mañana), el sitio de prueba estará cerrado debido a una protesta planificada. Todas las citas para la clínica de la gripe del 19 de noviembre se completaron y se darán a cabo que lo confirmó el personal de Salud Pública.
• Viernes 20 de noviembre, el horario irá de 9 a 2, en Lakeport en el Departamento de Salud.
• Lunes 23 de noviembre, martes 24 de noviembre el sitio de prueba estará operando en la Biblioteca Redbud en Clearlake, de 9-12.
