Carl

It was quite the enthralling time here at Carlé this week. Every single member of the staff and student body was moving, working, and progressing forward like they always do. This week, in particular though, was quite a busy one.

To start things off, it was the end of the first grading period of the 2008-09 school year. This means that everyone gets a nice little checkup to see what they've accomplished so far. And, this means our amazing secretary Barbara Dye is bombarded with taking care of the entire school's grades along with

the regular daily job of a secretary.

On the last day of our grading period, everyone who made a level (either gold, silver or bronze, part of Carlé's incentive plan for good behavior, hard work and attendance) got to either watch a movie in our library (thanks to our own Faron Moran, who set up the projectors and screens), or they could watch the fleetball tournament that took place on the field right below the school, with Jenna Ortega and Emily Newton as the officials.

Also, this week, Principal Ed Zander initiated a new after school guitar program. This program goes on Mondays, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The student body of Carlé was stoked to hear this program starting, and it's definitely something great and beneficial to do after school now.

The student/staff luncheon took place this week also, where the staff chose students to go eat lunch with them, put on by our culinary class. The staff each choose a student for their work and efforts in classes. The food was amazing, and a good time was had by all.

The students/staff paired up and went as follows: Alan Siegel took Courtney Lawson, Verna Rogers took Rebecca Lopez, Ed Zander took Aaron Trammell, Dan Maes took Kodi Burr, Barbara Dye took Paige Salvante, Tom Schaergus took Sarah Roath, Gary Oakes took Rodney Browing, Steve Hammond took Chris McCarley, and Patty Langston took Stacey Fedewa.

Also, a big congratulations goes out to Marlene Williams and Kristina Micheletti who gave their senior portfolio presentations and did great.

Students Emily Newton, Bryan Layne, Ino Moreno, and Mia Dupard are next up to give theirs, and we wish them all good luck.

All in all, it was quite the eventful week yet again, for students and staff alike. And with Halloween and our harvest fest right around the corner, it's got nowhere to get but better and better.

Bryan Lane is a student at Carlé High School in Lower Lake.
