UPPER LAKE, Calif. – Diane DeVries, owner of DD's coffee shop on Main Street in Upper Lake, spoke to Teresa Dunn’s senior math class at Upper Lake High School on Thursday, Oct. 4.

DeVries’ visit was part of an ongoing Thursday speaker series related to financial literacy.

The students learned about the benefits and responsibilities of owning and running a small business.

Topics discusses included, how to get started, funding, pricing your product, tax responsibility, liability, profitability and so much more. DeVries also took questions from students.

She and her husband, James DeVries, a contractor and Upper Lake graduate, live locally.

They both believe in pricing their products and services so as to give their customers a reason to return.
